Snippets & Snappets
At Mannapara, someone came up to my brother and asked, 'Sir, when do you prefer lens?'
A little confused and convinced that his inlaws were testing his power of sight, he said, 'hah! I rarely depend on lens.'
'Not good for you. You must have lens.'
'Ainks.'
Luckily for my bro, his bride walked by and told the guy, 'We will join you all for lunch now.'

You made me homesick....
Good pics...
>> We see a huge glittering article moving towards the stage and are later to find that it is the bride (after we put on our sun glasses). <<
And here I was thinking that Alpha is exaggerating. Is the photo really of your SIL or did you lift it from some Pavizham jewellery ad???
you sure were right about the jewellry..! ..:-)
Malluland countryside is really picturesque and I love all those typical wooden ancestral houses..
colours: I try.
vanathi: thanks.
boo: And what a sin to think I exaggerate! That is my SIL...maybe I could make money and send it to Pavizham Jewellrey...even they don't have that much in their store.
rt: yeah, its pretty.
Boo: Correct qn :)
Alpha: Why CAN'T we see a bigger version of pic 3 ALONE? ;)
Btw, considering they all look the same, which kaavu ("temple", I think,) is that?
anti: good questions..don't know the answers to both. in a way, it's good you cant see a bigger version of that picture coz there is the bride and her mom clearly visible in that one..but it is such a lovely temple, i had to put it up.
mmmmmmmm- what a treat.
alpha: I sort of figured that out... but i was thinking that Lalithaji was on the pic too :D
Ya, these places are BEAUTIFUL.. wish i had taken my cam when I visited a couple of places (cos of my dad's insistence, thankfully) during my last visit back home in...2003 (*sigh*). Was a one day drive down from Coimbatore to visit the family "kaavu" and the "kula deivam" at our ancestral village (both in Palakkad dist.) and back in the evening!
nice pics...
cheers,

I agree with colours... am all homesick now. Nice pictures. The ambalam (temple)looks very new ... it is either new or refurbished(pulled up the bigger version using my barebones HTML knowledge).
That picture of banana leaf with food is "sidey".
m:now get me the recepies to all those things on the leaf.
ashok: thanks..will check out ashokism..is it the new religion they were all talking about?
fillu: sidey picture with the cheesy banana tree logo was downloading using my internew surfing capabilities..live with it.
what's with your guys calling a simble temble names like kaavu, ambalam etc..
why is no one tripping over the lens joke? :(
Whoa...is she loaded or what!!
She's in a sleeveless blouse? Not that it matters...the gold is blinding anyway.
Was her petticoat made of gold foil? Have to check with your bro :)
gabby: she cud have been in no blouse, the gold would have covered up things. Btw, its the really short sleeved blouses that are in fashion these days.
Plus the saree itself had some Sarowski (spelling?) crystals and hazzar gold emroidery on it.
Alpha: Regarding your "lens" joke, in my case... i had to search for it.. cos ur pics, rather their orientation is screwing the post up. hmmm...firefox compatibility issues?
ants: i guess that's it. can't you get a freaking IE and check out the joke and tell me how hilarious it is?! bah!
"she cud have been in no blouse, the gold would have covered up things" gosh, u are hilarious!!!
umm alpha, are u sure that isn't a pic of u ...reliving ur umm....'jawaani'
:p
Good :)
Almost makes me wanna get married. Even though you were too lazy not to take a snap of the actual 'sadhya'.
What men! So much gold on human body is injurious! lens had benena chips too?
u saw the guy sitting in a chks shirt, he is Mr. KJ, me next to him http://dubaibloggersmeet.blogspot.com/
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...
:-))
KJ
easy me pata diya- i mean you could have asked for a cook to make the whole thing here......which btw......i could provide......latin woman- cooking south indian food- that would be a first.
Making fun of Mallus!!! Remember many Mallus are your frens.
shub: There are surely other ways I would like to relive my jawani than wear 100 pounds of gold and strut around.
phatichar: thanks.
rhyncus: hmm..all that gold enticed you eh? Regarding sandhya (which I am thinking is food) and not some woman, I was busy eating of course.
anumita: benana jibs are served for breakfast too.
kj: gotcha!
m: You have a cook!???? Hai raam! I seriously want to get adopted..not by the cook.
zo: yevada?
patrix: It is still 'The India' you see, my child. Well it's you bombayites that will swear there is nothing else like Bombay. Open those eyes.
The Mallus were asking for it.
Alpha: Sandhya illa.. sadhya.. sadhya...
wow...thats loads of gold. extremely cool pics. wedding must have been one hell (heaven) of an experience. :-)
Sigh....its 'sadhya'.
the "lens" seemed to be yummy.. hahah LMAO... good JOK
LOL this was funny.. and the edited pic of the bride with all that gold! wow..
all that gold ... must b surely from Dubai :))
the gold could be from any small city in kerala- jewelleries spam the place:(
Having had the opportunity to attend innumerous Kerala weddings, let me tell you that the Bride in the picture is wearing a very moderate quantity of gold. I am not over exaggerating, but honestly I feel that was a very modest display of gold as per the ‘recent Kerala standards’.
I can understand the surprise in most of your eyes, but you should attend some of those weddings of single daughters of aristocratic / burocratic/ political top gun parents . And no its not just Nair weddings…I would say it’s a close contest between Nairs and Muslim business /gulf big shots…
For my own wedding, in spite of wearing a ridiculous amount of gold by my own standards, I could hear people whispering in the crowd “OMG…how could she come on stage wearing so little gold…May be this is the new fashion…siiiigghhhhhh !!!!”
Very cool design! Useful information. Go on! Computer show chicago
