Fishy-terians!

One of my non-vegetarian friends got all riled up against other non-vegetarians who claim they ONLY eat chicken and fish. Why the holier-than thou image? He insisted that the guy is not doing a big favor to animal kind if he stays away from eating pigs or cows. Meat is meat. Why not just eat the rest and do yourself a favor by realizing how delicious pork is. Why does a butchered cow make you all sentimental about cruelty to animals and a chicken hung upside down is acceptable? Religious issues and allergies are an exception of course.

I wholly agree. You eat meat; you might as well eat all and not differentiate.

I asked my friend to let me know when he was planning on cooking his pet dog. Let’s stuff Snoopy with turkey this Thanksgiving and bake him at 400 degrees. Canary sauce with that? He recoiled and shuddered. He balked at the thought of Koreans eating roaches and lizards.

Now I am completely confused. So you’ll eat any animal that is mediocre looking…not as cute as a dog and not as ugly as a cockroach. Plain Jane and you’ll devour it! Trustworthy and intelligent, you’ll pass. Creepy crawly and you’ll recoil. Sure there is the matter of taste, but if you don’t even want to try it, aren’t you being a hypocrite? Where is equal opportunity? When will the minorities make their way into your stomach? When will you tell the doctor who detects worms in your stomach that you ate them happily with Ragu’s pasta sauce?

Sometimes it’s easy being a vegetarian. I can hold my head high, thump my chest and say I eat all my vegetables however ugly or cute.

Why? Whats wrong with this principle?! You realise that it is this very principle that is keeping you alive!

Or as someone recently told me, "I'll eat anything as long as its tasty and isnt slimy"! Err.. that rules out eel, leeches and okra?

i love okra. see personal preferences like that is still ok according to me...as long as it isn't like i will eat donkeys but not dolphins because donkeys are dumb.

Well .... I must admit here that you resemble a dog more than a cockroach ..... I mean a cockroach has 8 legs and you have fewer.

so I'm guessing that means you don't eat eggs. or cheese. or wear leather. or eat jello or anything with any kind of animal byproduct in it, right?

self-righteous vegetarians are even more annoying than self-righteous meat eaters.

gag me.

anon: thanks.

muniamma: You bet!:)

gagme: If milk is got from lopping off cows, I dont drink that kind of milk. I cant afford leather. Eggs I do eat. Chicken egg and if a dog laid an egg, I would eat that too. And comon kid, I aint self righteous..you are just being overly defensive. I wasn't going to bring it up till some chicken eating fella says that all asian folks should get their heads tested for eating what they eat. Eat and let live.

sudha: I'm still going only.

Anyone who eats eggs is a non-vegetarian.

Besides, it does seem ridiculous to say that I eat fish, but am vegetarian or I eat chicken, otherwise, I am vegetarian. Neither fish nor chicken are plants. But I guess, it eases the mind when one repeats something like that to themselves and others. They will end up believing it.

Alpha, I find it quite remarkable that you write about a controversial subject and barely anybody takes offence.
On the other hand, this poor guy has been dogged by criticism for expressing a simple opinion. People descended on him faster than you could say thayir sadam.

Er … does your readership consist mainly of orthodox Brahmans?

Kajan: Yeah thats defi ridiculous. So I am non-vegetarian eh? Never thought of it that way. I was under the impression that animals are things the poop. Animals contain meat. Meat is non-veg.

So does that mean if people who eat all meat , but eat one brocolli should claim they are vegetarian?

Terri: You don't feel calling me cute, non-vegetarian and self righteous qualifies for abuse? Man, I am seeing a psyciatrist...no more controversial posts for me.

I did check Amrit's blog. Sheesh, poor guy. People are generally quick to bash up other people in the most insensitive manner for nothing.

Are you also saying orthodox brahmins do not generally get into arguements because they have no meat in their spine? That calls for another post.

Going by the comments I get, I am not sure if my readership consists of people even. Looking at your photo, I am convinced you are a dog who can type.

*grin* I've always wondered why non-veggies cant eat everything that walks, runs, flies or swims. I've tried asking my husband but havent got a satisfactory answer yet. Anybody given you one that makes sense? :)
